In Nijmegen, the Beekeepers Association has relocated all 12 of its colonies to a newly designed beehive building in a local park. The building’s design, inspired by the solstice and the shape of a bee, utilizes sustainable Accoya wood for its facade. Architect Frank Marcus, also a fruit farmer and beekeeper, designed the structure to meet the association’s vision of integrating bees into the urban environment.
