Accoya wood for Carinya house in NSW

Accoya has been used extensively for this beautiful private home. For timber windows and doors in the main property, as well as for two out-buildings, pedestrian gate with pergola, driveway gates and a picket fence.

The Accoya wood has been coated in a variation of colours for this project. Accoya is the ideal material for coatings as it is so stable and the limited movement all year round will prevent coatings from deteriorating. The stability will also allow windows and doors to move freely as Accoya wood will shrink and swell much less than other wood species.

Tried & Tested

Over the past two decades, Accoya wood has been tested extensively by accredited bodies. Their reports showcase the excellent performance and outstanding benefits of Accoya wood and, in particular, Accoya wooden windows.

Accoya frames for casement windows, Wanaka NZ

This family home is located in Wanaka on the South Island of New Zealand. The style is traditional of the Central Otago region using wood throughout the property. All joinery was manufactured and installed by local company, Lunds Joinery Timaru (LJT). LJT produced all the timber windows, as well as the internal joinery for the wardrobes, bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen. The frames for the windows are made with Accoya and a total of 6.5m3 of Accoya was used in this project.

Accoya was the ideal material for the window frames due to the close proximity to Wanaka lake and the alpine environment this creates. Wanaka lake is the fourth-largest lake in New Zealand and 278 meters above sea level. This causes damp air which is often a problem for joinery, but not for Accoya as it is highly stable. The shrink and swell is minimal, meaning the windows of this property can open and close into the frames effortlessly, all year round.
